Cyrus tossed his cookies (well, cheese) about an hour after he went to bed last night and was complaining about stomach pain from the afternoon onward. For most kids, this would mean something bad was eaten or didn't agree with their stomach. For Cyrus, we have an additional more serious possibility to think about: bowel obstruction. This sucks. I'm taking work off today to keep an eye on him in the event that we have to take an unplanned trip to Children's.
This is life with a kid with Crohn's. Every single thing that might *ordinarily* happen to a 3 to 4 year-old (e.g. food poisoning), potentially has an alternative Crohn's-related explanation. Distinguishing between the two is a daily challenge and leaves a constant knot in our stomachs.

I hope this episode of vomiting is because of the simplest of explanations... what he threw up is what his body is having a problem digesting..or having an inflammatory reaction too. I would try removing dairy and see what happens. Dairy can also cause major constipation or partial bowel obstructions in children that are reactive to any milk or dairy products (even those with low levels of lactase/lactose).
I hope Cyrus feels much better today and it was just a random episode of being sick!!
Love-Ang.
Thanks Ang! Getting rid of dairy would kill us! Seriously. It's seems like 50% of what he's allowed to eat is dairy. If we discovered that dairy needed to be cut out, it's not clear we could actually do this diet. He'd be down to just two food groups: meat and fruits/vegetables... and he can barely eat fruits and vegetables - everything has to be cooked!
Think he was just sick... phew! He went to the bathroom a bit ago and hasn't thrown up since last night.
That is GREAT news!! Hope the good bathroom trips continue so you can relax and have a good weekend!!
