There is a lot of information about the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) on the web and a lot of information about pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) on the web, but we've found little information on SCD experiences among kids with IBD. We wanted to share our experiences with implementing the SCD with our son diagnosed (at age 3) with Crohn's Disease.

After 9 months of 100% SCD, we moved on to other treatment options (specifically enteral nutrition). We found the SCD lesson to be valuable and the experience has changed our eating habits as a family. We have been treating our son's Crohn's Disease exclusively with enteral nutrition for the last 5 years.
